DISCIPLINE POLICY STATEMENT Our Discipline Policy seeks to ensure that the RIGHTS of our school community are protected. To protect the RIGHTS we must have RULES, and teachers, parents and children have RESPONSIBILITIES in seeing that the rules are kept. We seek to highlight and reward pupils for good work and behaviour through a REWARD system while at the same time applying appropriate sanctions when rules are broken. A detailed policy is available from the school. EXAMPLES OF AWARDS
Awards for attendance: Bronze Certificate - Full attendance 1 term (plus school pen) Silver Certificate - Full attendance 2 terms (plus school pen) Gold Certificate - Full attendance all 3 terms (plus prize) In addition each month the class with the best attendance is rewarded with a half-day ice skating in Dundonald Ice Bowl. We require a written note and/or a phone call to explain absences. This is to ensure that our computer records are accurate. We would also ask parents to try to arrange medical appointments outside school hours where possible. Awards for work and behaviour: Bronze Certificate - High standards of work and behaviour (plus school pen). Silver Certificate - High standards of work and behaviour (plus school pen). Gold Certificate - Exceptional standards of work and behaviour (plus prize). • Pupils achieving a “double gold” (i.e. Gold for attendance, work and behaviour) qualify for an additional prize; • Residential trips for Year 9, 10, 11 pupils. CELEBRATION OF ACHIEVEMENT In December each year we publicly acknowledge the achievements of our pupils in both the pastoral and academic domains. |
