Yr 8. Young Enterprise. Your School, Your Business

As part of their induction into life at St. Colm’s High School, our Year 8 pupils were treated to a morning of activity, delivered by Young Enterprise, on Wednesday 18 September 2019. The pupils engaged in a variety of tasks to help them become more familiar with our school. Particular emphasis was placed on the different groups of people who work in our school to make up our school community, and what their roles are within St. Colm’s. A big thanks is owed to Mr. Shane Murphy from Young Enterprise for his engaging delivery, and to our very own ICT technician Mr. Gerard O’Hara for speaking to the group about the valuable role he plays in our school.

They engaged in a Personal Economics workshop, delivered by Young Enterprise’s Ruth Davidson and Jeff Hull, managing director of Lisburn based company Safety Solutions. Our students engaged in a series of interactive activities to explore money management and the importance of planning for career progression. Mr Hull’s contribution emphasised the importance of adaptability and responding positively to change, in order to upskill and remain employable. Well done year 13 for your involvement, and a huge thanks to Young Enterprise and Mr Hull.

Boomers Fishing

Congratulations to our pupils who went fishing with Lisburn Anglers association. Susan Brown, Honory Secretary got in touch to say “What a delight to have your 6 pupils today! They were so polite and enthusiastic and enjoyed every activity. They are a real credit to your school. I have never answered so many intelligent questions about fishing, bugs and pond dipping and how to keep up their fishing.”
