Year 10 Students Get Down to Business

November 13, 2019

St. Colm’s year 10 students recently took part in the Young Enterprise
Northern Ireland ‘Project Business’ programme.

Joel White from Young Enterprise led the workshops to enable the students to
explore a range of business concepts, including the role of the consumer,
supply and demand, the market economy, and savings and investments.
Students were intrigued by the real life experiences of James Magee, a local
entrepreneur who has had success with Barbering and Virtual Reality
business!! Two very different markets – but both requiring someone with an
eye for a gap in the market!

A highlight of the morning was when students set up their own mini jewellery
businesses and battled against each other to produce, sell and trade their
wares! In addition to learning about business, students also got the
opportunity to develop their skills in the areas of communication, teamwork,
problem-solving and decision-making as well as personal financial capability.

A huge thanks to Joel White and James Magee!!
